THE GRAPHITES EMERALD BOY

If you go wandering into the unchartered space between angular post-punk and psychedelic garage rock, you’ll no doubt find Brixton-based outfit The Graphites already there, thrashing it out in all their raucous splendor. Composed of singer/guitarist Lily Buchanan, Grundy le Zimbra “on bass and tennis shorts” and Jacob Wheeler “on hard hittin’ glitter toms”, the band have just dropped the humorous new video for the title track from their debut EP Emerald Boy. Characterised by shimmering, B-film kitsch, director Wilm Dandby’s off-kilter vision perfectly reflects the raw yet dazzling energy of the music. The 4-track debut EP was recorded mostly live to tape and mixed at Total Refreshment Centre in Stoke Newington, London, with the prolific Capital K, whose previous work includes Patrick Wolf, Archie Bronson Outfit and Flamingods. It’s out today so be sure to grab a copy! -KJ
